Sorry no pics this time. I have pictures of all his x-rays that i really want to post but we cant copy them to the computer yet. They will be up soon I hope. They would look something like this.......
The first one would be a 90 degree brake of the femur bone near the hip.
Second would be the bone together, but still obviously broken (this is when they set the cast.) The Third would be the ones we just got done today at Karver's doctor's appointment. It would look in between the two. Meaning..... the bone has moved and we are going to have to go reset it and get a new cast.
When we took Karver to his appointment today we were very excited to see the progress that had been made. Jeremy took Karver into the x-ray room because they frown upon pregnant women around all that radiation. When he walked about he was not smiling. He told me it had moved..... we needed to go talk to the doctor.
The doctor mentioned many things about how it was swollen when they put the cast on, and now the swelling has gone down, since he doesnt have alot of muscle to hold the bones in place it has moved. He talked about how it is hard with such a small femur to have a good cast on, blah blah blah. The doctor was very nice and said he was going to call Primary Childrens Hospital in Salt lake to see what they recommend. We were thinking he would have to go in for surgury and get pins put in. But alas that is not the case. Primary Children's will reset the bone, and THEY will put the new spica cast on. I am happy with this decision because they have done this ALOT before and I wont have to hear about how it is hard because he is sooo small. They will be used to working with small kids.
So as my mom said, "All my donations to pennies by the inch are worth it" I agree! haha! We are really excited to be able to work with some pediatric orthopedic surgen. And get Karver back on the STRAIGHT road to recovery.
I asked the doctor how long he will be in this spica cast. He said "well spica casts are usualy 6-8 weeks." I said, "Ya I know, he has already been in one for 1 1/2 weeks, does that count??" Sadly I knew the answer. So, looks as though Karver will still be in the cast during my c-section and recovery and NEW BABY!!! What an adventure we will have!
We are soo blessed to have such wonderful people to work with, Primay children's so close, and family that are such a great support! We love you all and thank you for your prayers. Karver is doing well, his spirit is strong and smile still bright!
